$200 off the iPhone

Thursday, September 6th, 2007

This is the reason I don’t buy popular technology when it is popular. There are always bugs. There are always sales. There are always upgrades. The iPhone is no exception. It just dropped by $200 in sale price. I know there are a bunch of terribly angry people fuming at how they got gypped. It is quite a drop. It’s almost too good to be true. I know a few of my tech friends who believe as I do about new technology and are now jumping with glee that they were right to wait.

Cool tech news

Wednesday, July 11th, 2007

It has been a while since I got a chance to write down the thoughts in my head about the things going on in tech-land. I know you were all wondering if I disappeared, but I didn’t.

So here is a synopsis of what I have been looking through in tech news recently.

I think I am in love with the LeapFrog children’s computer. It is going to be a hit with my own son when we get him one. Anything that keeps him from hogging up my computer is good for us.

Can you guess what I am going to say about the security problem linked between Firefox and IE? Yeah, it sounds like something someone would have purposely put inside the program to make people delete Firefox.

Hearing that a lighter, video improved PSP will be out in time for Christmas irks me a bit. I know they had to make up SOMETHING for the holiday season, but now all these kids will be clamoring for the newer version when the older version is actually quite good already.

I am starting to really dislike scientists. They find a baby wooly mammoth frozen and now they want to try and clone it. Uh, they went EXTINCT for a reason. I am not trying to live in Jurassic Park.

It cracks me up that the car companies like Ford are getting more fuel efficient engines for the higher cylindered cars. With all the money they spend on getting that technology together, they could be advocating the use of GREEN fuels instead.

Why, Toshiba?

Friday, March 16th, 2007

In their efforts to keep in the news, Toshiba has introduced their new yogurt machine. I can only guess that it’s because they want to keep making different technologies that might make the world a less expensive place to live. Honestly, it is a confusing sentiment compared to the list of other gadgetry they already make. Okay, Toshiba…where are you going with this?

Shopping for a camera? Look at the reviews first

Tuesday, March 6th, 2007

Reading other people’s experiences can help save you a lot of headache and money. The first thing I do when I look for any type of electronic device is to read all the reviews that are out there, then make an informed decision. Specs don’t tell you anything about how the product actually works.

If you are in the market for a digital camera, then you will want to look at Reviews of Digital Cameras first. There are a number of different brands profiled in the website. You can get a first hand look at what is behind the workings of the cameras in your price range and make an informed decision. My new camera is there and I am glad that the review is a good one. My old camera also has a glowing review. Both of them are great cameras so I think the reviewers are spot on.

Happy comparison shopping!

Lighted Concept Keyboard for Computers

Wednesday, February 28th, 2007

I saw this and thought “Hey what a great idea”. I know the perils of trying to see a keyboard by the light of the monitor. It hurts your eyes beyond belief! The new concept is to have LED lights that will work much like a reading light. You will be able to clearly see all the keys on the keyboard without any strain. I hope they put it into production soon, as it looks to be a really great asset. If they can get it to work, I don’t doubt that the idea will leak over to laptops and even text message centered cell phones.
