Stumble and you might freeze

By Bulletz | Filed in General Tech | No comments yet.

StumbleUpon has been a huge asset to many a blogger trying to gain regular traffic from the net. Unfortunately for many, this application is no longer a viable way to garner fans. SU has taken it upon themselves to shut down stumblers who only use the site to promote or enter contests and giveaways. There is a widespread campaign by those who have had their accounts frozen to warn others of their plight so they don’t fall to the same. Stumble does not really understand the dynamic of what they are doing to bloggers around the globe. They don’t get that many bloggers would never have anything they feel stumble-worthy if it were not for a contest on their blog. They gain followers and friends all in the same swift click of a button. Stumble is losing traffic for this move, as there are many who are reading the news and swearing off anything to do with Stumble. The fact is that now we all have to be careful when we see any contests or giveaways that involve using StumbleUpon as an entry option. You could be the next one out in the cold.

Portable Hard Drive

By Bulletz | Filed in Computer Tech | One comment

Just what I need! We have been adding more and more to our hard drive of late and trying to keep it to a minimum. Building a music studio on your computer takes up lots of space and lots of RAM. I am still looking for the best bang for our buck with a portable hard drive. This one comes with a 3 Year Warranty! Toshiba 320GB USB 2.0 Portable Hard Drive looks to be one that just might have the goods that I need in order to store all our music and pictures without the threat of losing any information. I would love some suggestions on the best ones and if you have this one, please do pass along the review.

HURRY Free shipping Geeks.com

By Bulletz | Filed in Computer Tech | No comments yet.

I was going to report to you all yesterday, but today the deal is on! Get FREE SHIPPING at Geeks.com – April 22-24 w/ code FREESHIP for qualifying orders over $49.99. This is great for people who, like me, add the price of shipping into the total price for the product and then try to find the lowest price overall. When shopping computers or items that need service plans, the plan price is also a huge factor. If I buy something from Geeks right now minus shipping, it comes out to be a way better price than most!

Extra storage

By Bulletz | Filed in Computer Tech | No comments yet.

Everyone needs a backup of their backup. I think that the best way to do this is to get an online storage buddy as well as an external hard drive. We have been contemplating a number of models ourselves. The question is how much memory do you REALLY want to have in an external hard drive?

You could go for the small ones like the 320 gigabyte drive so you don’t end up with too much information on one drive. I have a habit of saving things to three or four different places just in case one messes up, so that might be my best bet.

Then there are the mega drives like the Western Digital 2TB My Book Essential USB 2.0 External Hard Drive, which gives you more memory than you could probably fill up in your lifetime…depending on what you put on the drive. We would be backing up pictures, movies, and music mostly. Those things take up a heap of memory. Terabytes might be the way to go when you look at a movie that takes up about 4 gigs on average.

Decisions, decisions. I would love to know about anyone else’s experience with external hard drives.
